Georgian Caregivers
The economic situation of my country forced lots of compatriots to leave their families: kids, siblings, and old parents. They were pushed to immigrate to find new jobs and send money to the folks back home. The vast majority of them are women. Lots of them are illegally staying in the USA. They don’t have work permits, and most of them don't speak English. Almost every woman works as an elder caregiver. Lots of them are serving families without benefits or time off, which can go on for several months at a time. Some of them haven’t been able to see their own families for the past 10 to 15 years. Sometimes mothers, who left their little kids, are now grandmothers and still supporting their children and grandchildren. On the other hand, they also grow very close to their adopted work families, and it’s a real tragedy when an elder, they care for, passes away.
